Digital Participation: A Call to All!

🇩🇪 In deutsch lesen

In our increasingly digitalized world, access to functional technology is not a luxury but an essential requirement for participation in society. Students completing assignments online, adults submitting job applications and forms digitally, and daily communications taking place over the internet — digital inclusion is central to modern life.

Yet, many people in our affluent country cannot afford their own devices. This is a condition that we can and must change!

My Personal Contribution

I collect discarded hardware, repair it, replace defective parts, and restore it to working condition. I then donate these devices to those in need, such as students, refugees, and other vulnerable groups. Recently, for instance, I refurbished twelve ThinkPads and donated them to Computertruhe e.V. in Chemnitz, which distributes them to eligible individuals.

Why This Matters to Me

From my personal background, I know how humiliating and exclusionary it can be when you are unable to participate in digital activities due to financial constraints. Now that I am in a position to make a difference, it is my heartfelt mission to help improve these circumstances.

Dual Sustainability

  • Reusing hardware that would otherwise be scrapped.
  • Providing access to the digital world for people who would otherwise be left out.

Your Turn

How do you and your company handle outdated but still functional hardware? The operational life span of many devices often exceeds business rotation cycles.

There are numerous initiatives like Computertruhe that can assist you in refurbishing and redistributing equipment. Together, we can make a valuable contribution to both the environment and society.

Let's take action and enable digital inclusion for everyone!
